5-minute Major [2 January 2011]

The Packers punched their ticket to the playoffs, beating the Bears 10-3.....Detroiters hope that the Lions' defensive dominance in beating the Vikings 20-13 is a sign of a new era; The Lions defense allowed just 214 total yards, and 6 points.....The Red Wings put two goals through early int he 3rd period, but it wasn't enough to overcome the three the Flyers scored in the 2nd.....The Wild tried their best to waste 5 goals, but Cam Barker netted one in overtime to give them the 6-5 edge against Phoenix.....Despite losing to the Raiders for the second time this season, the Chiefs will be the 4 seed in the playoffs; the Raiders, coincidentally, are the only team in history to go 6-0 in their division and not make the playoffs.....Many in Cincy are just glad it's over; the Bengals fell to the Ravens 13-7.....Sam Bradford's rookie magic rubbed off in a 16-6 loss to the Seahawks who made the playoffs as the NFC West champions, with a 7-9 record.....In what promises to be a repeat occurrence in this year's Big Ten, the home-team (Illini) beat the away-team (Badgers), 69-61.....The Blackhawks surely had hoped for better than a 2-1 loss against the Ryan Getzlaf-less Ducks.....At ease.
